Rose Problem
I would like some advice as to what can be done (if anything)
when roses have been effected by either a hormonal herbicide against lawn
weeds, or a too strong a mix of fungicide. I suspect that the chaps have
used the wrong sprayer! The new shoots are twisted and the leaves are a
bit curled. What is the chance that they will recover, and is there
anything that can be done to help their recovery?

Lawn Aerator
I am looking for an aerator for the lawns at work. Unfortunately I have a small budget to spend. I was looking at a 40" grass care system from SCH supplies. Does anyone have any experience of this product. I would be grateful for any information as to how effective and easy it is to use, thanks, Julian Cowan.

Piptanthus nepalensis
I was given some seed pods of Piptanthus nepaliensis by a client
of mine which were stored in her kitchen cupboard. Not the best of places.
I tried to germinate them on kitchen towel on a NE window sill in my
house. They did not sprout. The standard procedure with seeds from the Pea
Family is to "nick" them either with a sharp knife or sand paper to brake
the seed coating. still no success. Do the seed have an inhibitor that
prevents them from germinating? Do the seed have to be exposed to heat
treatment? Please can anyone advise?

Restoring Edwardian Staging
We are hoping to fit staging in our restored late Victorian/Edwardian Flower House. We have some of the original cast iron legs. Does anyone have any experience of restoring greenhouse staging from this era ? We are interested in what would have been used for staging and how it would have been connected to the legs. Thanks, Juliet Hodgkiss.

Waterproofs for work
I would be interested to know the makes of waterproofs that others have found to be durable and suitable for the job. I find mine only last a couple of years. Is it worth shelling out for an expensive one ? I may be about to spend £60.

Possible Health Hazard?
I am Head Gardener of a large private garden in Somerset and would like to know if anyone has encountered a similar problem to this. We occasionally come across dog, fox and badger poo in the garden and I know the health risks involved with dog poo but does anyone have a sensible solution as to how I should manage it? Should the staff be issued with a risk assessment and appropriate PPE or is it just a case of pick it up in a poo bag and bin it?
I know this might sound trivial but I need to be certain as to the best route to take. Many thanks,
Richard Bentley

Help
I am the Head Gardener of a 15 acre public park and, like all good members of the PGG, I compost all of the organic material that is accumulated over the growing season.
After we have used the leaf mould for mulching, we are left with about 20 tonnes of the material left from the bedding etc. We hand riddle it to make useable top-soil (for top-dressing and raising sunken graves). As you can imagine, it would need a lot of rainy days to riddle through 20 tonnes.
What I am after is a motorised riddle or screen, but the only machines I've see are either as big as a shed or for the domestic market, so we'd be lucky to get more than a season's use out of it.
Is there anyone out there who knows where I can find a motorised riddle robust enough to manage the job?
