All together, PGG members have raised over £8000 as part of a challenge set by Chairman, Tony Arnold
Anna Matthews, Tony Arnold and Patrick Phillips organised a plant sale at a garden party and raised £80 for the appeal.
Every year, Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire hosts a Rare and Unusual Plant Sale, and for the past three years, the Grimsthorpe Garden Team has taken a stall at the event to raise money for the PGG Trust. During the year, surplus perennials have been potted up, cuttings of shrubs carefully nurtured and evergreens clipped into interesting shapes ready for sale. Under the leadership of Head Gardener, Eddy Peeling, the team has managed to raise a considerable sum for the Trust and had fun doing it!
After having been a member of the PGG for many years I was regularly asked about when I would host a meeting at Castle Ashby. When the chairman issued his challenge for every member to raise £100.00 for the trust I felt it was time I did my bit for what is a very worthy cause. As a professional gardener you know that there is no one more critical than another professional gardener so I was a little nervous about showing fellow professionals around the 35 acres of grounds, but I need not have worried I had some fabulous comments after the visit. We had over 23 members on the day raising a little over £100.00 so chairman's challenge achieved!
