PGG two day visit to the Gardens of Northern Ireland – Day 2

Mount Stewart

Mount Stewart is an eighteenth-century house and park with a twentieth-century garden, made by the Marchioness of Londonderry after 1921 on the shore of Strangford Lough. The planting is broadly Arts and Crafts, benefiting from a mild humid climate.

Mahee

Visitors to Mahee little realise that this is the lifework of a single individual, Paddy Mackie. It is best known for its Rhododendron collection, probably the best privately owned collection in Northern Ireland; the collection is centred on choice species and tender hybrids.
