Pruning Course at David Austin Roses

PGG PRUNING COURSE !!COURSE FULL!!
An all day course on the theory and practical aspects of pruning roses.
The day starts with the theory of pruning all the different groups of roses followed by a practical demonstration by Head Gardener Steve Parnham. After lunch you’ll be able to prune examples of English shrub roses followed by advice on planting and general maintenance.
We can give you a certificate at the end of the day if required. Please bring secateurs and gloves, and wear stout footwear.
Programme
10.30am -10.45am – Arrival and coffee/tea.
10.45am – 11.30am – The theory of pruning all the different groups of roses from the once-flowering Old Roses to the repeat flowering shrubs, Hybrid Teas and Floribundas as well as the climbers and ramblers.
11.30am – 12.30pm – Practical demonstration by Head Gardener Steve Parnham in the extensive show gardens concentrating on shrub, climbing and rambling roses.
12.30pm – 1.30pm – Lunch.
1.30pm – 2.30pm – Practical Pruning. You will be able to prune examples of the English shrub roses yourselves and receive feedback.
2.30pm – 3.00pm – Planting and general maintenance of roses.
3.00pm – 3.30pm – Coffee/tea and final thoughts and questions. The times are fairly flexible during the day, it depends on how many questions you ask – hopefully lots!.
