PGG visit to Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
The 130 hectares of landscape and gardens is well-known throughout the world and has been for decades. It is a World Heritage Site, well known for great glasshouses, housing plants from ten climatic zones, mouth-watering exotic rain forests and giant lily pads, landscaped grounds and has the most incredible tree collection in the world, seen from the famous tree top walkway.
Kew also studies plants and fungi that are essential for human wellbeing; providing us with food, medicine, fibres, fuel, building materials and many other products. In addition, it shows plants hold a great cultural meaning for people all over the world.
Kew is an extremely important education complex where hundreds from around the world study specialist training courses throughout the year from botany, horticulture, plant conservation and the infamous Kew Diploma in Horticulture. Kew also offers many educational days out for schools and where children can visit and join in the awesome play centre centred on plants. Something we could all learn from and introduce something similar to your garden.
