Sissinghurst Castle & Gardens
Arriving at 9.00 am for 9.15 start, Head Gardener, Troy Scot Smith has agreed to give an introductory talk before we embark on a walk around these famous gardens. The gardens are set in a series of ten separate gardens, each individually landscaped to reflect the romance and intimacy of Sackville-West poems and writings. Located in the Weald of Kent is owned and maintained by the National Trust.
Great Dixter
We leave to head in the direction of Great Dixter, arriving at 1.00 pm where we will be greeted by Fergus Garrett, who has graciously agreed to give an introductory talk before members can go off to enjoy the gardens at their own leisure.
The gardens and house are the family home of writer Christopher Lloyd and are under the stewardship of Fergus Garrett and the Great Dixter Charitable Trust.
The garden is a centre of education and a place of pilgrimage for horticulturists from across the world. Keeping to the original themes created by Christopher Lloyd, Fergus has continued to create mixed borders in an informal tapestry of colour, high impact visual displays throughout the year.
