Matson Ground Garden
Matson Ground Garden is a small, private family garden that is part of the wider Matson Ground Estate. The gardens are looked after by PGG Member and sole gardener Brian Gardner-Smith and consist of one third of an acre walled kitchen garden as well as two acres of formal and informal garden that overlook farmland and the surrounding fells. The gardens include a variety of mixed borders, wild flower areas and a stream leading to a large pool and developing arboretum. Visit www.matsonground.co.uk for more information.
Peter Rabbit Garden
The World of Beatrix Potter brings to life the well known stories of the author and the story trail leads to the Peter Rabbit Garden, designed and created by Chelsea Gold Medal Winner Richard Lucas. The garden recreates garden scenes from some of the books using plant varieties available to gardeners of Beatrix Potter’s era. Visit www.hop-skip-jump.com for more information.
Holehird Gardens
The Lakeland Horticultural Society took over the derelict gardens of Holehird mansion in 1969. Situated in a stunning location at the foot of Kirkstone Pass, the Holehird Gardens are totally run by dedicated volunteers and we will be given a guided tour of the gardens by LHS Member and past chairman, Peter Hoggarth.
