A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and knowledgeable gardener to manage a recently established 5-acre private garden with outstanding views across the Somerset countryside just two miles south of the City of Bath.

Within the garden, there are several distinct areas at various stages of development:

  • A newly planted woodland with a spring fed pond and a large water garden
  • A terraced lawned area with large borders
  • A newly planted meadow area with an evergreen topiary spine and a winter garden which is just starting to establish.
  • A mature predominantly ash woodland underplanted with ferns.

Springs run throughout the property feeding ponds and streams.

As Sole Gardener the role allows a good degree of autonomy to plan and manage the whole seasonal calendar of planting, pruning, mowing, weeding, maintaining and tending. Additional duties include care and maintenance of machinery, maintenance of boundary fences, hedges walls & gates, outbuilding doors, windows, paths, and patios. There is a gardener’s workshop, and a plentiful supply of quality equipment

The successful applicant will have a passion for gardening, relish the idea of working in the ground of this unique property and have had experience of working in a similar environment. They will be able to work independently as well as take direction where needed and take pride in working in a tidy and ordered way.

The Sole Gardener will have a high degree of initiative to manage and maintain all aspects of the garden and associated tasks. They will carry out monthly and weekly plans with a weekly meet with the owner to set priorities.
