Tony Arnold, PGG Chairman, presented Michael Hughes of Durham University Botanical Garden with the Guild Loyal Service Award at Skipwith Hall, Yorkshire on 11 June this year.
Outstanding contribution for over 30 years
The Award is given to a member who has given no less than ten years of loyal service to a garden and helped make it noteworthy. Mike received his for the outstanding contribution he has made over the 30 plus years he’s been at the garden, helping make it one of the best gardens in the North East and developing an excellent programme of introducing young people to gardening.
Covid delay
The award was made in 2020 but due to Covid restrictions it has only just been possible to make the presentation.
