Photos: Three Hagges & Skipwith June 2021

We arrived at Three Hagges on what looked to be a promising day and we were not to be disappointed.

It began with a talk from the owner about the concept and planning of what to do with ‘reclaimed’ agricultural land concept through species selection, planting and sowing. The area now becoming established had regular surveys recording not only plant species but all forms of wildlife – birds, insects, butterflies and mammals. Mown paths allowed us to walk throughout the area and an excellent guide gave an insight into this fascinating botanical masterpiece.

A wonderful day

We moved onto the owner’s house at Skipwith with a more mature garden but well maintained garden of exceptional standards. A maturing wildflower area near the house led to a more formal garden and walled garden and orchard area. A fantastic place to sit, absorb the atmosphere and sunshine and finally reflect on a wonderful day with the traditional cuppa and slice of cake.
