Sunday the 16th April 2023.
Fourteen members and friends arrived on an overcast morning in the carpark of the Backhouse of Rossie.

We were shown into an old hay barn which had been converted into a wedding venue by the owners, Caroline and Andrew Thomson. Here teas, coffees, biscuits and cakes had been laid out for us on white table clothed tables with a friendly member of staff on hand. Caroline Thomson, greeted us and gave a brief introduction to the story of the gardens and the three generations of Backhouses who were bankers and botanists.
The gardens themselves which Caroline and her husband, Andrew, have spent many years restoring are designed on the themes of Art and Science. The gardens contain part of the National Collection of Backhouse Narcissus, looked after by PGG member Tim Viney.
Thank you to Caroline and Andrew Thomson for your hospitality.
